So the midwest storm turned out to be a sham! We ended up with lots of ice, snow that is sort of like little pellets that accumulated to maybe 3 inches. Due to the ice we managed to get 2.5 days off of school.
Tuesday turned out to be all kinds of fun because daddy ended up getting the day off too! We had a relaxing morning which consisted of daddy making breakfast, melting our Tupperware container in our oven, sleeping in late, PJ's for mommy all day, a trip to an empty Target, sledding and lots of shoveling (by daddy). We also played Wii, board games and watched the Incredibles.
But today daddy had to go back to work and mommy was ready to put these kids to work. We got so much done today. Here is our list:
1. Emma removed all the silverware marks from our everyday dishes! This is a task that gets done maybe every 6 mos. around here. They look so nice. Only cost me 25 cents a plate!!
2. I finished both of the girls dust ruffles
3. I upholstered their chair cushion.
4. 2 and 3 together mean that I officially finished their room re-do which began in July!
5. Just for my GT group, I re-did ALL my laundry sorting labels
6. I framed 2 bird prints for my bedroom. I have also had this project sitting around for a bit.
7. Claire, Emma and Sam shoveled our neighbors driveways and earned $14. Very cute. They charged $5 a drive and an extra dollar for salt. I think they got some tips!
8. I made turkey meatballs for dinner and an extra 30 meatballs for the freezer.
9. Cooked chicken in crock pot to use for the rest of the week.
10. Claire and Sam shoveled our driveway for $0
11. Claire sewed a fleece headband
This day seemed very long. Not in a bad way really. Just really long. I very seldom stay home an entire day so it seemed like the hours were just barely creeping by. And although I did not do any of my normal routine, I actually feel like it was just what I needed. All I needed was an ice storm and a sloped driveway to get to some of these projects finished! Sometime obstacles are opportunities!
