Sam had some hilarious quotes today that are just too funny to not write down!

- This morning after breakfast I promised him he could have a pudding cup! Yeah, I know...I spoil him...he is my baby. So while he is eating breakfast I figured I had a few minutes so I hopped in the shower. About mid-shower I hear someone entering the bathroom and he says, "Were you just ignoring me when I was talking to you?!" I replied with "No, I was not ignoring you I just couldn't hear you because I am in the shower!"

Sam then says, "Well, I thought you were ignoring me because I kept calling you for my pudding!" I think he hears me ask him this same question frequently. Even though it was "sassy talk", I couldn't help but laugh on the inside of course :)



-After lunch today Sam had Lucy over for a play date. He said, "She really likes me. She likes my cars!"



-Later during the play date, they were painting a box together (thanks Sara D. for this fun idea) and Sam and Lucy are talking about Star Wars. I have to say that at Sam's age if you have seen a picture of Star Wars characters then you have seen the movie and you know everything about it! It is this thing that 4 year old boys do. It drives me crazy, but it is so cute at the same time. So, Sam and Lucy are painting and talking trash about Star Wars. Then Sam says, "I haven't really seen Star Wars, I mean it's like PG-100. Only Pa Pa Chuck can see it!" Pa Pa Chuck is 94 years old and I am sure he really has no interest in watching Star Wars but if he did he would have to wait another 6 years!!

Pa Pa Chuck--We love you and hope you are continuing to get better! We hope you get a little chuckle out of this one!

Slash Wednesday?

This morning at breakfast Emma asked me, "What day is today?"
I answered with "It is Tuesday."
"Oh...is there a party today?" Emma asked
"No party that I am aware of." I answered
Then she went into some long explanation about a party that Mrs. H, her teacher, had told her about. I was beginning to fear that I had not read the newsletter AGAIN and that there was some kindergarten happening that we were about to miss out on.

As she kept talking she said, "Mom, there is supposed to be a big party and then it is Slash Wednesday."
So, then I realized that her teacher must have told her about Mardi Gras (a big party) and Ash Wednesday being the beginning of Lent. I quickly corrected her that it is not slash, rather Ash Wednesday and that it is not a party at all but at time of preparation for the Lenten season leading up to remembering Jesus' death on the cross and his resurrection on Easter. I think she was okay with this explanation even though it did not involve a party!

And I must add that EMMA WORE JEANS TODAY! For those of you who know Emma and her stretchy pants, this is a miracle. I am trying not to get too excited.

Weekend summary

We had another great weekend! Scott went in late on Friday so he was able to see the 2nd grade chapel at school. Claire had a few narrator parts and she did a great job. Overall, the entire class did a wonderful job of telling the stories of Genesis. Here is Claire at her microphone! She picked out a special "dressy" outfit complete with pink hair bow. I love the hair bow and I am constantly aware that the hair bow days will be behind us before long.
After the chapel Claire's class went on a field trip to another theatre production. Scott went along on the field trip since he was off and had the opportunity to drive 5 little girls in a mini van. He loved it! He also loved the Stinky cheese man-the musical. Claire's class is beginning a unit on fairy tales and the Stinky Cheese Man is a knock off of the Gingerbread Man.

Sunday afternoon was our last dog training class in the beginner series. Blitzen passed with flying colors and although he is ready for intermediate, we decided we are ready for a break. It was fun but we are ready for unscheduled Sunday afternoons and we know what we need to work on with him. We just need to continue doing it. He has mastered sit, stay, leave it, lay down, leash walking, shake and high 5! He of course has not mastered any of these with distractions :) Did I mention he is always distracted!! Here is an attempt to get a good picture of him in his graduation hat! In the background is Claire holding her doggy treat container that she made!

Saturday night we had Sundaes at home. We had 2 different kinds of ice cream, bananas, cherries, whipped cream and sprinkles. We even dug out out sundae dishes! The kids had a lot of fun with this! Here is Emma showing off her new cross-eyed trick!

Now that we have loaded them up with sugar we are off to put them to bed!

It was a fun weekend with lots of good family time, rest and laughs!

Tonight

When we got home from church tonight I had all the kids get their jammies on. When Claire came down she laid on the couch and she fell asleep! I had to get a picture because this hardly ever happens. I don't think she is feeling that great and I knew she was tired. I tucked her in tonight just after I took this picture and I hope she is feeling better tomorrow.

marathon relay

Over the 4th of July this past summer my good friend Kim and her family came into town for the weekend. Over dinner with some mutual friends Kim suggested that sometime we should run a race together for a girl's weekend. We have done some girl's weekends together before that usually consisted of a lot of eating and shopping! Very fun, but I think I longed for something different. Everyone at the table agreed this was a good idea and so the Lisa wheels got turning!

So, I started researching races, Scott started requesting some time off and the email chain got going from St. Louis to Nashville to Dallas. I decided we should do the April Go! marathon relay in STL!! I thought it was a manageable distance for a lot of people and it would really be a team effort. I also wanted to run in pink skirts but Tiffanie vetoed that. Since she is running the half now maybe I can get some takers on this...ANYONE???

So, I signed up myself, Kim, Melanie (can't run without her) and 9 other very fun girls from CPC and CCS. We will have 3 teams total. We will each run 6.5-6.75 miles with each team of four completing the marathon of 26.2 miles!! It is also in conjunction with a girl's weekend in STL which will still consist of lots of eating and shopping on Friday and Saturday. We will then wrap up the weekend with the run! I can't wait for this event. I am so excited that so many gals wanted to run and are rising up to meet this challenge. I think I really like this running thing :)

Spirit Week

Well, I am a little behind on the blog! I have not been in the mood to blog. Tonight I have some time and I feel like doing it so I am going to do as much as I can. The first week of February was "spirit week" at CCS. The kids always really get into this. I however, as the mom, do not. I am trying to work on my attitude. It is a week of competitive kids demanding the absolute best outfits so their class can win the spirit stick!! The first day was clash day, then pajama day, International day, CCS day and I forgot the other day...another consequence of not blogging more frequently. My girls won individually on pajama day but I did not get pictures of them. The below pictures are of international day. Outfits courtesy of Goodwill and a little tweaking from mom!

Emma was an African women with dress, matching head wear and flip flops

Claire was an Asian woman with a silk floral kimono type shirt, a bun with chop sticks and a little authentic eye makeup. She also took her stuffed panda and made a fan.

Swing your partner!

On Friday, CCS had their 2nd annual square dancing assembly. This is a coordinated effort between the P.E. and music programs at school. They invite all the parents to came and watch and the kids get to wear western wear. Sam and I went to see Claire and Emma's moves! It was really fun!

Claire's class did traditional square dancing as well as a line dance routine. Here she is doing her line dance!

Here is Emma and her partner as the "head couple" of their square dance. She had so much fun swinging around and around with Jack. Emma has on a pink scarf around her neck.
