A funny quote

We recently took a road trip.  We stopped periodically mostly for me to go to the bathroom.  I am training for a marathon so hydration is essential even on road trips which makes us stop more frequently.  At every stop there would be a conversation like this:

Me:  "I am going to stop here to go potty.  Who needs to go potty?"
Claire: "Not me"
Sam:  "Not me"
Emma:  "I'll try.  It's better to try each time than to feel guilty."

I am not exactly sure why but this really tickled my funny bone.  I mean guilt is a feeling that I really want my kids to understand.  I just never imagined it would come in that context, but yet I got what she was saying.

It's been a while

Summer is half way over and we have been SUPER busy having fun!  We moved into our new house on May 14th which was just part of the craziness of May.  We got through all the end of the year events at school which are always fun.  Field day, talent shows, operas, retirement party for the beloved Mrs. Rahm and the mom's end of school luncheon!  Boxes remain in unused portions of the house, but soon it will be cold and there won't be as much going on so we can finish unpacking then.

Our house has been great.  The picture taken on the header of the blog was actually the kids' first jump into our pool.  We have always wanted a pool and are really getting a lot of use out of it this summer with our triple digit temps.

We have almost double our previous square footage which gives us plenty of space to spread out.  We have  had a fair amount of company so far this summer so if you want to come visit give us a shout out.  We have space for you and your family or we can put you outside with the dog!  Just jokin'.  But we did make Blitzen an outside dog which is proving to be a good decision...or at least I am happy :)

Here are some photos of our summer so far:

Papa Chas and Grandma Lorene both turned 86 this year.  This is papa blowing out his candles on our patio.  We did not have 86 but we put on as many as we could get to fit.

Our cousins, the LeBaron's came to town to visit
We took a lot of pictures.
I will be posting more this week as we have a lot going on...kids are at camp and my in-laws are celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary.  Stay tuned.  I would like to promise I will be better about blogging, but I cannot tell a lie.  I will try.
